On October 3, 2024, Merzenich celebrated its popular town festival, attracting numerous residents to the town center. Alongside a colorful program for the whole family, the Foundation for Art and Architecture Britta and Ulrich Findeisen introduced the CUBITY Atelierhaus to the public during the 2024 Open House Day. Under the initiative of research associate Sharon Nathan, M.A., the foundation showcased its work at a booth on Lindenplatz as part of the festival and invited attendees to guided tours of the CUBITY.

Guided Tours for Visitors Through the CUBITY Atelierhaus

Every hour on the hour, visitors had the opportunity to explore the CUBITY Atelierhaus through guided tours on Open House Day 2024. Many residents of Merzenich, who had already heard about the building, took advantage of the chance to see the innovative spaces for the first time. The tours were met with great enthusiasm, and many participants were impressed by the architecture. “I was completely surprised by how different the interior feels compared to the exterior,” one visitor remarked. The CUBITY stood out as an inspiring space that can be flexibly used for artistic, cultural, and social projects.

Merzenich Town Festival: A Diverse Program for All Ages

The town festival offered a vibrant program for both adults and children. For the younger attendees, the highlight was a free ride on the town’s Bimmelbahn, which made its way through the town center. Attractions such as a carousel, duck fishing, and dart throwing added to the fun for kids. Art and craft enthusiasts found numerous stalls featuring decorations and gift ideas. The Merzenich municipal archive hosted free guided tours of the Old Church and creative painting activities for children.

Particularly noteworthy were the booths of the volunteer fire department and the Technical Relief Organization (THW). They offered exciting insights into their work, drawing the interest of many visitors. Their presentations highlighted the importance of these organizations to the community and provided an excellent opportunity for attendees to ask questions or learn about volunteer opportunities.
